Does FATE play a role in our lives?

Do you think accidents happen for a reason and does FATE play a hand in our lives? Explain and offer an example.

Then, read the other students' (and/or your teacher's) comments and discuss at least 1 other student's ideas. Do you agree or disagree? Why? What is interesting about their perspective?

This is a topic that every generation wrestles with; do we believe in something greater than ourselves that intervenes in our lives? Do we call that FATE? Or is fate unreliable, illogical, and chaotic events that occur simply...because they do? Are we comforted by a master plan? What helps us cope when "FATE" does intervene in our lives?

For me, I have family, friends, laughter, faith, and love to combat FATE. I believe that accidents do happen and that we are caught in being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I also feel that my life has a plan. I live each day trying to give it as much purpose as I can. I care, I love, I laugh...all generously, all to make my time here meaningful.

I wish for you students, to know you matter, your life...YOU...is incredibly special. FATE may intervene and disrupt what seems the natural order of life, but believe that you mean the world...because you do.

I believe that fate plays a role in our lives, not through some higher power, but through our own personality. Your personality will decide how you handle opposition and it's our choices that make up who we are in full. Fate doesn't decide for us, our very selves decide for us how our lives will be played out on a subconscious level.

things might happen for a reason, or there might be fate, but I don't think it happens with everyone.
I think that your life has a plan, even through the bad things, and good things can make up for it. I don't think that each person has a match where they are destined to be together, I think people can meet and really have chemistry and can be perfect for each other, but not everyone has someone like that.

I do not believe that fate plays a role in our lives because we have free will and our lives are influenced by our actions. People have to choose what they do in life, and their success is based on the decisions they make.

I do not feel that fate plays a role in our lives. There is fate but you can change it. Fate can be changed by one simple act of kindness or one simple choice. Maybe you were born to own the family business but what if you are offered a job at a big corporation. You just changed your own fate. Fate is a simple thing that people make a big deal about all you do is have to make a simple action and change it.

I think that fate plays a role in our lives through our own self image, personality, and the way we act towards each other. These characteristics will help you decide what type of person you are going to or meant to be in your future. However you are the one that decides what is going to happen with your life not fate. Fate only affects how your life might turn out by the actions that you choose to pursue in your life.

I think that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes it seems like you are in the wrong place at the wrong time, but truly it is fate. No one lives a life with no purpose were everything happens for an accident.

I believe that fate plays a role in our lives, because everything happens for a reason, and in our lives it controls what we do, good or bad. the fate in everyones lives is the plan for our future. and everyone has a fate

I do not believe fate plays a role in our lives, I believe that we make our own way in the world, and that our paths are not set apon a certain track. If they were, life would be pointless, someone would know whats going to happen. There is no surprise. I do believe in a higher power that can intervine in our lives.

i think that fate does not play a role in your life. i believe that you control the outcome of your life. fate is just something that is made up. like you cant just sit around and hope that fate will bring you money of happiness because it wont, you have to work hard and it will pay off in the end. for example, you train for a couple of months for any sports you will improve. you wont improve by just saying if fate doesn't want me to succeed in this sport ill do a different on. so i think the fate is just a silly excuse for being lazy.

I think that we make our own fate, by making choices based on our opinions. Its like karma, when you do somethings bad, you deserve for something bad to happen and vis versa. So by our choices, it determines which paths we go down in life. And we are fully to blame for how our lives turn out.

I think fate does have a hand in our lives, because everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by accident, there is always reason behind something. There is always a plan behind your life, and there's always a reason behind everything that comes 'unexpectedly'. Such as love, fate has just the right person for you. Love goes hand in hand with fate.

I agree with Zach, that we blaze our own trail, and our actions effects what happens to us in the future, not fate.

I think fate plays a role in our lives because things happen for a reason. Whether or not they are big things they still could have a major effect on who you are or who you're going to be. Although, you could change your fate because you have control of your life.

I don't think that accidents happen but, that fate does exist. Accidents do not just happen there is always a reason for an accident. Accidents are just a way to defend themselves and not put the blame on themselves . For example if you get into a car crash it was not just an accident there was something that went wrong or something happened. It could be a simple thing as just not looking before you go out onto the street, it was not an accident it was your own fault. I do think that fate exist because really anything crazy that happens to you is fate. You can be walking on a street and see someone that you have never seen in years and that is fate.

  • At 12:53 PM , Blogger C.P. said...

Isaac, i partially disagree with what youve said. Because yes god may have planned some things, but i think our own choices are to blame. Also does that mean that everything bad that happens to you, you blame God? Because whatever happens to you is usually your own fault.

I believe that fate might play a role in life. I believe your life is planned out by "someone" in the "GREAT ABYSS", and your life usually goes according to plan. But during unusual circumstances someone can change the path in which their lives were going in either a good or bad way. Fate is the fine line between the choices we make and the path of life in which we are traveling.

I believe things happen for a reason and that fate does play a role in our lives. One example of this happening is when my friend's dad got fired from his job, at first he was really upset and their family was worried but after awhile he found a new job that he liked even better. Many times have I felt fate playing a role in my life just in simple everyday situations.

I don't believe that fate plays a role in our lives. We determine and can make our own decisions and things just happen sometimes. Everything happens for a reason. We make our own decisions in life and we just the path that we want to follow. I don't believe fate plays a roles in our lives but maybe things can occur to us in different forms.

Isaac!! Okay I semi-agree with your statement, but God doesn't decide the choices that we make in life. We do. God might guide us to the right decisions but in the end it is your decision with what your life is going to be like depending on the actions that you make. But overall good point!

Though many people may disagree, I believe that Fate does control our lives. Having said this, I also believe it is our reactions to the things fate throws at us that determines our life.

We, as the children of troublesome times, have had to go through a lot. Some of us may choose to take the "easy way out". Those who do, unfortunately, could not handle what fate choose to throw at them. Kids who also choose to do illegal things to cope with their misfortune aren't handling their fates well. By not handling their woes and triumphs well, they have altered their lives (maybe) beyond repair.

On the other hand, others choose to overcome their misfortunes and teach others. They are truly strong, and therefore determine the course of their lives. We should be strong, and remain strong through the trails that fate has thrown at us.

I believe that everyone's life has a purpose and there is a reason for everything. I don't think that things just happen because of fate. I believe that there is a plan for my life. If fate means that something is going to happen to you just because it will and there is no purpose then I strongly appose fate. I believe that God brings people and events into my life for a reason. He has a plan and doesn't just think "Hey, today I'm going to kill Moriah's grandma just because I want to." God has a plan for me and there is no denying I do not believe in fate.

I disagree with Zach. There is no way that you can go through life only having accidents and nothing happening for a reason. Yes people can control their feelings but there is always a reason to why someone wants to do something, aka fate.

Fate? Does fate play a part in our lives? Well that all depends on who you talk to...If you talk to someone who believes in some of the un answerable powers such as fate or destiny.

I do believe that Fate and Destiny do play a part in my life. As well as everyone's life. I like to think that even if I make a mistake and things go wrong that its just whats suppose to happen. I believe that things, all things, happen for reason. Going off that I think that if you believe in that you believe in fate. They go hand in hand...so yes I do believe that Fate and Destiny and all of that stuff are apart of our lives.

Every action of ours is very minutely planned by God. It really does not matter if some people don't believe in it. And what ever happens happens for a reason. Anyone can easily verify the same by carefully analyzing the result of an act. Let me give you an example from real life. I avoided using facebook for a long time. Then suddenly one day, I decided to use it. Since I had little time, I studied the profile of just a single girl. I read her views and was very impressed by them. I didn't send her any request. The very next day that very girl came to me for a favour. I was dumbfounded. She was a total stranger, and I definately would not have helped her if I had not known her views. To my greatest surprise, I was the only one with people at the right places, who could have helped her. And which I did. I am fully convinced that every action of ours is predetermined. You have no control over your actions. Those who think they can change their fate are not practical. I challenge them to set impossible goals for themselves and then try hard to achieve those goals, which they can because they can change their fate by their hardwork (Satire)

Of vehicles are passing on the same road without any accident and driving with less experience than you.is not the accident is due to your ill fate. You are born in a rural poor family and one of your friend living in big city with rich family. For whom life will be easy to achieve more, you or your friend. You are obviously less fortunate than your friend in starting a career or achieve some thing in life. Hardwork is not everything as somebody need a good chance with proper time, that is fate. . .
