Is it better to conform than to be different?
....or do they? Think about teenagers, the peer pressure many of you may feel as we all try to fit in. The 2nd statement on our Anticipation Guide is: It is better to conform than to be different. In a thoughtful response, state your opinion.
Make sure you tell the why you feel that you do. As always use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar; you might type it in Word first and then copy/paste it into the comment box.

It is not better to conform than be different because if the while world was the same then nothing would ever get done because nobody would step up and express their ideas and discoveries. If everyone conformed to a group the world would be boring and there would be no entertainment because you try to act the same as other people anyway.

It is way more important to be different than to conform because you need to be your own person not a person someone tells you to be. If you just do what everyone else does that doesn't make life interesting, that makes life boring. So it is way better to be different.

I think it is way better to be different than to conform. The world would be a very boring place if everyone was alike. We need people to have different personalities and views in life to invent new products. If everyone was the same we would be stuck with the same routine, same people, and same expectations. That wouldn't be fun. That's why being different is better than to conform.

My simple answer, heck no! It's not better to conform than be different. Being different dignfies us as a person. I think being different makes life exists, that's why I'm in both marching band and concert band. Everyone thinks bands kids are nerds, but in reality we are the most talented, and exciting kids in the school. Conformity is overated, and life would be better if we all let each other be who we want to be.

I think that it is not better to conform than be different because, being different makes us who we are. If everybody was the same in every way then that would be boring, and we wouldnt be able to express ourselves. Everybody in this world is different in their own way, because that is what makes you your own person.

It is more important to be different than to conform because if we were all the same the world would be boring and we would have no individuality. You also need to live your own life and not have people tell you what to do.

In my opinion it is better to be different. If we were all the same and did all the same things there would be no real person inside you. Being different is a good thing. It makes you for who you are. Everyone would be really boring if the were all the same.

I think that it is better to be different, than to conform. Even though we are all under peir pressure, we all have a history, and little things that make us differnt from the general public. Being differnt makes a person stand out, this person could be a role model for others to follow. But no one exactly follows their role models path, they build their own trail, their own history.

I think it is bettter to be diffrent then to conform. Every one is deffrent wether they like it or not. It is up to the person wether they will embrace those diffrences or try to hide them. I feel that it is better to be diffrent because if you conform then your just another person, but if your diffrent you stand out and get noticed. The biggest reason i think people should be diffrent is because if i think about any of my heros they didnt become my heros by blending in and being the same, they are my heroes because they are out ther doing new things and makeing things happen.

It is definetly better be different than to conform. If everyone had conformed in the past then we wouldn't have some of the great inventions we have today. If you conform you have no identity like the people in Anthem. Having your own identity and opinions makes the world go round. if everyone had the same views the world would be boring. Everyone would agree with each other all the time and, I don't know about you but I like to argue. without your own identity you would not be a person.

In my opinion it is way better to be different than conform. Being different defines you. Even though the world tells you to do this, be like this and act this way or you will not fit in I feel that being yourself helps you fit in because people will see something different in you. Being different is just more fun you will often find people like you and you will have fun being different together. If you conform then you will loose yourself and probably do or say things that before you would have never said or done. When you look back you will see that all you did was a daily struggle to look or talk like everyone else and hate yourself for it. If you look back almost all great people stood out and didn't conform like Rosa Parks she said I will not let them decide who I am and in the end it payed off. That's why being an individual is way better than conforming.

Being different is better than being the exact same as the person next to you. Sharing common interests with people is important to get along with them but trying to be the same as someone is a bad thing. If the entire world was the same we would never learn new things, make new discovers. With all different types of people thinking in different ways and believing different types of things we know more about the world we live in.

It is not better to conform then to be diffrent. This is true because you should be yourself and not try to be someone your not. The only way to fit in is to be diffrent then find the group that fits you. Some people go the extra mile to be diffrent and prove that they are there, which creates who they are and their role in society. All I have to say is that you should be yourself and stay that way no matter who you want to become.

I think it is not good to conform the individual mind is very important. With being an individual you will get many ideas if everyone thinks differently. The reason we are all so different is because of evolution if we all were the same and we got a virus no one would survive. But if everyone is different there will be people who can survive so it is important to be an individual.

It is more important to be different than the crowd. It's boring and dull to be like everyone else, and everyone has their own personality. Being an individual gives us the great and creative ideas that we have today. Being different makes our world today.

Well I say that it is not great to conform with a group. Why would you want to do that? It is wonderful to be different because being all alike is so dull. Why not be the odd one. To be the same with some one else it is characterless. Being blod an making a statement of who you are is way more superior. If people just imitate one another there is no excitement to the world or to your surrounding. Its just like a bunch of robots that follow orders an do it an not have a mind of thier own. Who would want that? It is important to know what you want, to be independent and if you have to stand alone, so be it.

I feel that you should not conform with a group. If you confrom you are changing yourself for others and i do not agree with that. You should always be yourself and stand out.

In my personal opinion, conforming is not better to conform than to be different. Being different represents us in a way that other people can never copy. We are made unique when we are different, we all have different personalities, different goals, different dreams. Being different allows us to stand out, and do what we want to do. Conforming is not better than being different because when you conform, you look like everyone else, you talk like everyone else, and you behave like everyone else. Being different allows people to stand out, and do different things and not have to do the same things as everyone else. Being different makes us our own person.

Why conform when you can be different? Why be like everybody else? I'd hate to be the exact same as everybody. In Anthem everyone is the same and it's boring! You can choose to be who ever you want and thats why some people you might like more than others, but it's not a sin! If it is a sin than why did God make everyone different? Wouldn't he make us all the same? I think you should never conform and always try to be different.

Based on what I have either observed or studied about, I believe that conformity is double edged sword. What I mean by this is that there are consequences if one decides to conform or if they decide to remain an individual. If one wishes to conform, they may have to give up some of their own individuality and needs. However, if someone does not conform, they may be subject to ridicule and subjection. An example in which both conforming and not conforming are equally damaging is in Nazi Germany. By conforming with the majority, the National Socialists were able to come to power with little to no objection. Also, by standing aside and conforming with the ideals of the party, the conformists essentially allowed millions to be killed, sacrificed their moral beliefs, and only for the sake of fitting in. On the other hand, if someone was to stand up to the Nazis (whether it be for personal or moral reasons) they would be looked down on with contempt and possibly killed for not conforming. The issue of conformity really boils down to ones moral convictions. Either you are able to allow your faith to be discarded/or replaced, or you are able to let your beliefs control what you do. In certain situations, one might be better than the other.

I think that it is better when everyone is different because if everyone were the same then we would probably still have things that we used in the 1800s. When people are different they try new things like making improvements to old inventions they can also come up with new ideas for government or anything else.

In my opinon it is better to be different than to conform because being different is what makes us unique. It would be so boring and dull if everyone was the same. Being different also gives a wide range of different creativity.

I feel that there are many ways to conform and many ways to be different. I thiknk that being different in qualites is more important though. This is important because if everyone is the same and learns the same things then we will never learn anything new from other people.

I don't get why everyone's seeing this as so black and white. There is no thick, dark line that seperates conformity and difference. Everyone is unique, just like everyone else. All of you are conforming to Blogspot's rules by signing up for accounts. All of you are conforming to basic grammatical rules whenever you speak or type. You conform to classroom, district, city, state, and federal rules. You have grown up to learn and conform to basic social rules (and don't whine and say you ignore them, because you don't). We all conform to the rules that unite us as a state, as a nation, as English-speakers, and as a human race. Conformity is the balance that must exist for civilization to exist. We are all different, we are all the same.
Deal with it.
