To fight or not...what would you do?

Scenario: America has just been invaded again and the President is asking for help from anyone: men, women, and even teens. Despite having to leave your family, friends, and the knowledge that you might not return, would you join in the fight to keep your family/friends safe? If yes, defend your answer. If no, what would you be willing to do to stay out of it?

I will say no because I don't want to be in any war due to family tradition. What I will do is move to a country side with my family.

yes i would fight to keep my friends and family safe and knowing that i might not come home again i would still fight because if you didn't then you wouldn't feel like you are helping i think i would fight because i would feel like i helped everybody stay safe and then i would keep my friends and family safe.

I wouldn't go and fight. I would try and help people get through the fighting in the country. I'd try to be a mentor and comfort people who's family member is in or has died in the fighting.

I feel like it would depend on the circumstance. If it was something I strongly believed we should fight against and my family and friends were in real danger i would fight for them because I love and care about them. The most important thing would be to keep them safe. If i did not believe it was a good cause for war, I would stick up against it and still protect my friends and family but make sure my point got across.

I would go to battle, I made this decision because i know that i would sleep better knowing my family was safe at home and i was doing good by serving my country. I dont think that i would be able to live with myself knowing that i had a chance to protect loved ones of mine and not take it. Even if the cost was death i would risk it to save the lives of others.

If America had just been invaded and the President was asking for help from anyone, I don't think that I would join in. I do not believe in any kind of violence. I also do not think that I would be able to handle all of the death and tragedy that I saw! I would only join if I was not in the actual fighting! I would love to be a nurse or a cook in it, but would refuse to fight! If it was a mandatory thing, then I would not fight it, I would join! I don't know that I would start anything big, but I might ask them kindly and tell them all of the reasons why I do not want to go and fight! If America really needed help, I wouldn't join and fight, but if it came down to I had to, then I would try with all my heart to get them to let me stay out of it!

I would have to yes, because i would do just about anything to protect my family because they are the most important thing to me. Even the fact that i might not return i would be OK with it because the fact that i tried is all that matters. Many more people in this world will go out and fight for it.

I would join in the fight to keep my friends/family safe because i would rather have them live a safe life then to have them hurt or dead and then I stay alive.

yes, i would choose to fight for the sake of my family and friends, its one of the ways i believe, that shows how much i really care about my family and friends. If i got hurt, i would hope my family and friends would acknowledge the fact that it was for them.

Yes i would defend my country. I would join the fight to defend my country my family and my friends to save the people and things that mean the most to me would be the most important to me. This country has been invaded before and hundreds of people died in the incident I want to make sure this doesn't happen again as it means the most to me to give back to this country for all its done for me even if it means risking my life in battle. So yes i would die for this country and protect it from the invaders.

If i were taken away from any family/ friends to fight for their safety, i would say yes. it would be a hard decision to make but i know the safety of others is important. Even if i knew that i might not return to see them, i would know that it would be the right decision because if they were put into that position, they would probably say yes too. I would feel scared and sad of leaving them and might regret my decision but then know inside that i would be protecting lives.

I believe it depends on the situation. I would serve my country by volunteering to nurse wounded soilders during the war however, i could never pick up a gun and kill someone else. If it was a war in which i believed wasn't right i would stay and support things in America.

I would go and fight I would want to go and defend each and ever person in the us. It would be a hard thing going off as a teen trying to prove to all the men that are older than you and it would be hard to go and leave your family and friend but I would do it.

Of course I would rather protect the ones I love, and also work for my nation to defend all that have families. If the president orders everyone to fight, obviously it is a major war to defend our independence, and every person willing to go out of our way and into danger matters. Those who do not wish to fight will not only be selfish but will live no longer a free human if the opposing side wins. "What point is there to live with a spear in your heart, the spear you thrusted into you by caring more for yourself than others" - (Anonymous).
We take our freedom for granted, because we never expect a life without it, so dye a free man, instead of living as a prisoner.

I would definitely fight for America. I would also know that even though i might be in danger and also my family might be too i know that if I fought my family woould have a better chance at life and also the people i am fighting for. It also shows respect for you and your country if you are to fight or able and willing. It shows appreciation for your country and what it has done for you. JAMES D

In that situation i would go help out my country for my family and friends safety, but considering the friends and family i have, i believe that they would go out and help too. the reason i would go out and help my country is because i see other countries in situations like that and i don't want to be in the same scenario as they are. I think of the time when Germany was taken over by Hitler, and hoe horrible it was for the Jews, and how when people tried to stand up for themselves, they where slaughtered. I would definitely stand up for my country at the beginning of it, and in a way nip it in the bud, and make sure my family and friends where sake and my country free again.

The only way for our way of life to survive is for those who can fight to stand up for what it right.

You can't protect your family without the efforts of everyone around you.

If you wait until the enemy is at your door it's to late.

We have our problems but history easy validates that we may make our mistakes but the world is better when we are in the lead than those others who wish to destroy us.

For those who preach non-violence, I do agree with the concept but have you ever thought that non-violence can be as immoral as indiscriminate violence.

When you choose to sit and do nothing while evil reigns, you are the evil that allows it.

I don't believe in violence, but for those without tolerance to others, without remorse for what they do in their destruction of our way of life, they make the choice of their own death by forcing our hand.

I would not be prepared to fight as in this casem the end does not justify the means as we do not yet know what the end result will be. I would move with my family to a different country, preferably Europe where I would settle down and start my life afresh. I could re invent myself, learn a new language and have time to ponder over abandoned memories accross the atlantic. I would judge from a far the actions of US citizens and being so disconnected, I may take ona different frame of mind than usual. If the special forces were to come and fetch me, I woould again flee with my family.
