  1. I disagree that the individual is more important than the group because if everyone follows one person compared to the entire groups' feelings its just kinda unfair! Then it's all about that one person and not about all of the people. It should be like a Democracy where every one has a say. That's my oppinion.

  2. The group is more important than the individual. Unless the individual needs serious help, the group needs to be helped by everyone. If the group needs something done then all individuals need help. I strongly disagree on the statement of the individual is more important than the group.

  4. I disagree to the statement 'The individual is more important than the group' because nobody is more important than any other person in this world. Nobody she be considered more important in this world because we are all equally important and nobody is better than anybody. It wouldn't be fair if anybody was considered more important than any individual because then they would be treated differently than everybody else, and thats not right.

The individual is not more important than the group, the individual and the group are of equal importance. As an example you haven a bunch of good friends, but one friend is excluded from a main group of friends, they are all your friends, and have equal importance.

  6. A single is almost never more important than a group. All people should be valued equal. It is important that we are not predjedice against one another. This is important because if we make our classes presice then we will never find something in common with all people. All people need to learn to get along with eachother and be respectful to everyone, not just the people they know of.

  7. I would have to say that this statement is untrue. A group does not focus on one. There is more then one person in a group, you have to be fair.

  8. I believe that the individual is not more important than the group. I think that a groups needs are more important than an individual's because the majority should rule.

  9. I don't think that an individual is more important then an individual.Everybody plays an equal part in something whether it's a sport or a project

  10. The individual is as important than a group but the individual can cause as much as a change as the group of people. I think the individual could make more of a change because they can convince more individuals.I think a good example of an individual convincing people would be Martin Luther King Jr.

  11. I think that having groups is better than being alone. I think this because being in groups helps other people can get to know each other and help each other. Being alone is worse because if you have a question you have to ask the teacher instead of your class man. Being in groups is a lot better.

  15. I disagree with the statement the individual is more important than the group because I believe the team comes before the player. What the team needs comes before what the player needs. If your a player on a team and you want to play a certain position, you wont always get to play that position because the team needs you elsewhere.

  16. I think that a group is more important then a individual. Like for example a football team does not revolve around one guy it revolves around every one on the team. You cant have one guy do all the work because a Q-B cant throw with out an o line to block for him.

I would think that at different times the individual is more important than the group. At a time when your not focausing or getting any work done, it would be more important. Though if its overwhelming, the group may be more helpful. So back to the prompt I would have to stand in middle depending on which situation your in.

  18. An individual is not more important than the group. Individuals come together to make a group so each person is important, but a team must do what is best for the team. This isn't always what is right for each individual.

  19. Baby_Chick123 I think what you say is very true! it's sad that people that are famous, popular, ex. seem to be higher in this world than other people. It shouldn't be that way! I'd like to see you expand on how people get treated differently.

  21. The group is definitely more important than the individual because if we just worried about ourselves all the time or society will become corrupt. If we just care about ourselves and did not worry about the group and everyone else nothing would get done. If the president just cared about himself we would not have a government and everyone would be on their own because we are just worrying ourself. If we worry about the group we care for each other we will prosper have a stable community. That is why the group is more important than the individual.

  22. In the arguement between the individual and group interests, my beliefs lie in the middle. An individual holds basic human rights and should be treated with respect and dignity. However, if a group is a progressive group, or a group that is dependent on saving lives/changing them, individual rights are dwarfed. So, it all really boils down to the values and morals of both the individual and the group.

I really agree with what you said. It was a great example of why the individual is not better than the group.

  31. In certain situations the individual is more important than the group, and sometimes the group is more important than the individual. If the individual needs are unreasonable and weird, than why should the group stop in order to fix that one person’s needs? Though if the individual’s needs affect the group in a negative way, or that could truly stop the progress of the group, than the individual needs are more important. There’s no ‘I’ in team.

  32. I agree that the individual is more important than the group. First, a group of people can do something bad but it would affect the whole group making the impact lighter. But if an individual person would make a bad decision it would affect that person even more than it would effect a group. So i feel that, an individual is more important than a group, again because what you do individual effects your personal life but as a group it does not.

  33. A individual is not more important than the group because if one person leads the group no ones opinion gets heard. And everyone wants to be heard and might want to do something different.

I disagree. The individual is not more important than the group. Whenever there is a group of people, usually, one person brings up an idea, and the group must make a decision or split up. If the group agrees with an idea, usually the group follows through. If a group of people disagrees with something, the group usually gets into an argument. If the group still cannot agree on what to do, they will either split up, or an individual will the make the decision alone. The individual is not more important than the group because in a group of people, a decision must be made through popular vote, or favor. If six out of seven people want to do something, usually a group will follow through with the idea. If one person does not agree with something, they usually cannot throw a temper tantrum, because it is usually pointless and will not work to improve anything.

  36. I disagree with this statement in tragic circumstances because it is better for one person to die that for the entire group to die. The group is more important only because of the amount of people, not because if you are not part of the group doesn't mean that you are not important. In certain circumstances one person can be more important than the group if the person is of particular importance to the world, or the cause.

  37. The individual is more important than the group. The individual needs to be strong or the group will never be strong.Tkhe individual has to be able to support themselves and go there own way because if they rely on the group then they will never live on their own. Thats why the group is more important than the group.

What happens if the individual isn't trying to make the same goal as the team is? Would that still make them more important than the team?

  40. i agree with Allen and i disagree with NS because an individual could get other people to go on his side and could maybe create an even bigger group. but they could possibly be the same.

I disagree with what JasonB said because if an individual makes the sole decision, then the group may either be unhappy, or angry, and usually the individual is singled out and feels bad.

  51. I am actually in between because i think they are equal. For an example we need the congress to make decisions but we also need the president to make decisions for America and both of their decisions although different are very important. Again I neither disagree or agree with a individual being more important than a group.

  58. an individual is important and can make a difference but they would be more effective and useful in a group. Why should we quit standing up for what we strongly believe in even if the cost may be bad.

  60. In Invictus, by William Ernest Henley"I am the master of my own fate", this quote relates to my life. how? I feel that i am the only one in my life that can decide my own fate. For example, if i back talk to my mom and get grounded it was my own fault. For making the decision that i made, and for that decision i made i have to live with that fate. It was not my sisters fault that i backed talked my mom and got grounded, it was my own i am the only master of my own fate.

  62. I hope this one sticks out:

You cannot separate the 'individual' from the 'group'

The group cannot exist with the individuals that define it. The individuals rely on the group (aka: other individuals) to survive and function.

This is a parlor trick play on words. You pit the word "individual" against the word "group" to creation an illusion of distinction.

There is no difference between the individual and the group.

    ReplyDelete
  63. No, I don't believe that. I believe the individual is LESS important than the group. Because the individual is LESS important than the group. And the reason why is because GOOD things will come if the individual was less important than the group.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think the individual and the group is of equal importance, because without competent and strong individuals, the group will suffer, but the individual will suffer without a group and a sense of belonging

I belive that the individual can be more importatnt then the group depending on there actions or choices all though I also belive that the group is also just as important as the individual and the group can also have more impact then just the one person. for example the individual is someone who made the idea of the light buld and now you see light bulbs everywhere wich was a indivuduals idea then the first computer was mad with a group of men wich my grandpa was apart of that gorup to make the first computer and now you see wirless computer to box computers to computer that can turn into tablets all over the place. So in my honest opinon I think it can go both ways becasue both the gorup and the individual still have a great impact.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I believe that the individual is more important because they are usually the ones who change the world. Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela they were all individuals but they had some help, people always supported them but that does not mean they were part of a group. Usually groups are led by one person which makes it harder for the other people in the group to be heard which is why an individual that has people supporting him/her can make a bigger difference than a group.
